Job interview

Answer the follow-up question, not just the first one.

Most people prepare a few stories and hope the questions fit. A real interviewer listens for gaps, asks what you personally did and moves on when an answer runs long. Practice with one who does exactly that.

Why interviews are hard to prepare for alone

Reading answers out loud to yourself does not test much. The difficult part is what happens after your prepared answer ends.

  • Follow-ups you did not script

"What would you do differently?" or "What was your part, not the team's?" breaks a memorized story fast.

  • Silence and neutral faces

Interviewers often give no signal. It is easy to keep talking to fill the gap and lose the point.

  • Questions about weak spots

A gap in your CV, a short job, a skill you lack. Hesitation here is noticed more than the answer itself.

Interviewers you can practice with

  • The structured recruiter

Asks behavioral questions in order and probes for a clear situation, action and result.

  • The hiring manager

Cares about whether you can do this specific job next month. Asks about real problems the team has.

  • The skeptic

Has doubts about your background and will not say so directly. You find out through the questions.

  • The final round

Senior, short on time, interested in judgment and motivation more than skills.

What the feedback shows

After the interview you get a report tied to what you actually said. It quotes the answer where you described the team instead of yourself, the story that had no result, and the moment you handled a tough question well. You can repeat the same interview, switch interviewer type or raise the difficulty.

Your practice, your development

This is a rehearsal space for you. The report is there to help you prepare, not to judge whether you should get a job. Run the same question five times if you need to. The point is to get better, not to get a perfect score.
